Teresa Rose Kubos moved to Austin in July of 2006 in order to work as an advisor for
a study abroad company. For the previous five years, she had been living off and on
in Spain studying Spanish, teaching English and eating tapas. Trying to get her
students to speak another language reminded her how much she enjoyed theater. For
more on this correlation, ask Teresa for a fun demonstration. Those experiences,
combined with her love for comedy and all things funny, inspired her to take classes
at the Hideout Theater and Esther’s Follies. She hasn’t stopped doing improv since,
and is constantly in awe of the amazing community Austin has formed. Her new goal
in life is to yes-and everything that is yes-and-able. If you ask Teresa whom she
finds especially funny, she will gladly shout out the following names: David Cross,
Louis C.K., Brian Regan, Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and Bob Odenkirk.
She is a diehard fan of linguistics (especially Spanish dialectology), thrift stores
(she’s wearing your old shirt right now), Waterloo Records (spends half her paycheck
here), flamenco (Óle), pop art (Lichtenstein Lover), and salt (sugar = overrated).
